This position will work directly with our Quality Manager to perform nondestructive testing, weld inspections, documentation, material traceability, and general quality control activities in both our fabrication shop and at customer facilities. Our work includes structural steel fabrication, industrial piping, pressure vessel fabrication and repair, tanks, mechanical installations, and industrial maintenance. Carolina Contracting Solutions maintains ASME U-Stamp and National Board R-Stamp certifications, so experience working within code-controlled fabrication and repair environments is highly valued. Primary Responsibilities Perform Visual Testing (VT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT),Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), & Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT). Conduct visual weld inspections and dimensional checks. Verify welds against drawings, specifications, WPS requirements, and applicable codes. Assist with welder qualification testing and documentation. Maintain NDT reports and inspection records. Assist with weld maps, weld logs, material traceability, and turnover packages. Verify material identification and MTR documentation. Monitor fit-up, joint preparation, welding processes, and final weld condition. Work with fabrication and field supervision to identify and resolve quality issues before they become rework. Assist the Quality Manager with ASME Section VIII, Section IX, and NBIC R-Stamp documentation and inspections. Coordinate with Authorized Inspectors and third-party inspection personnel when required. Assist with pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, and documentation. Maintain calibration records for inspection and testing equipment. Support continuous improvement of the company's Quality Control program.
Qualifications Preferred:
ASNT SNT-TC-1A
Level II certification in
PT, MT, UT, & VT.
Experience inspecting industrial piping, pressure vessels, tanks, and structural fabrication. Knowledge of welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and stainless-steel welding. Familiarity with ASME Section VIII and Section IX. Familiarity with NBIC requirements and R-Stamp repair work. Experience reading fabrication drawings, piping drawings, weld symbols, and specifications. Experience with material traceability, MTRs, weld maps, and weld documentation. AWS CWI certification is a plus but not required. Candidates with strong welding/fabrication experience who have NDT certifications and want to grow further into Quality Control are encouraged to apply. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is: Detail-oriented and takes ownership of their work. Comfortable working directly with welders, fitters, foremen, and project management. Able to identify problems while also helping the team find practical solutions. Organized with inspection reports and documentation. Comfortable working both in a fabrication shop and at industrial customer facilities. Willing to travel to project sites when necessary. Able to work overtime or shutdown schedules when project requirements demand it.
