A Non-Destructive Testing Specialist uses ultrasonic, electromagnetic, thermal or liquid penetration tests to check structures or materials for cracks, defects or signs of corrosion. May work on large structures such as bridges, dams or pipelines, or check vehicles such as aircraft. Interprets and reports on test results that include images and measurements; maintains and calibrates equipment.
Onsite - onsite Responsibilities Conduct visual and dimensional checks of welds on components like pressure vessels, structural steel, boilers, and piping systems. Ensure all welding activities comply with approved procedures, blueprints, and industry codes (e.g., AWS, ASME, API). Review weld maps, maintain detailed inspection reports, and verify welder performance qualifications (WPQ). Coordinate or execute Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods like ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing. Identify non-conformance issues, enforce corrective actions, and act as the primary QC point of contact for clients. Requirements Active American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification. High School Diploma or GED; technical or trade degree preferred. Typically requires 3 to 5+ years of QA/QC experience in construction, manufacturing, or heavy industrial sectors. Deep understanding of relevant codebooks such as
