Certified Welding Inspector Full Job Description CWI:
Structural Department Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to oversee the quality of structural steel products throughout the manufacturing process. This position will focus heavily on visual inspection of finished product, structural MIG welding quality, and NDT inspection. Key Responsibilities Perform visual welding inspections on approximately 60% of product prior to shipment. Inspect structural MIG welds , with a strong emphasis on Complete Joint Penetration (CJP) welds. Perform and document UT (Ultrasonic Testing) and Magnetic Particle (MT) inspections on seismic and load-bearing products. Review and interpret engineering blueprints, fabrication drawings, and shop drawings . Verify welds meet applicable specifications, drawings, WPS requirements, and quality standards. Identify weld defects and work directly with welders, supervisors, and production personnel to correct quality issues. Ensure proper welding procedures and inspection requirements are being followed. Support production by providing guidance on welding quality and inspection requirements. Qualifications AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) required. Strong experience inspecting structural steel welding . Experience with structural
MIG/GMAW
