Job Description
A.
SCOPE and PURPOSE:
Performs first article inspection, complete inspection of all finished products.B. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct Non-Destructive Tests (NDT): Perform tests using methods such as ultra sonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and radiography to identify defects in materials and components.
- Interpret results: analyze and evaluate test results, provide detailed reports on findings and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Equipment Setup and Calibration:
Set up and calibrate NDT equipment, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to safety regulations.Training and Supervision:
Provide on-the-job training and guidance to Level I technicians and assistants, ensuring they understand NDT methods and safe practices.Documentation:
Organize and report results of NDT, maintaining accurate records and documentation of inspections and tests.Client Interaction:
Interface with clients regarding work priorities and project progress, actively participating in safety initiatives and incident investigations.- Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
- Perform physical verification of in-process, rough machine and finished parts for dimensional conformance. Authorize acceptance or report non-conformance (NCR) as applicable
- Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; conforming to re-work.
- Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions, calling for repairs.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
- Develop methods for inspection, testing, and training.
- Suggest methods for improving product quality or design, or manufacturing processes.
- Prepare, or direct others in preparing reports and required documents.
C. ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS
- In addition, employees have the responsibility to follow OneWest Manufacturing Partners policies, procedures, Quality Manual and safety.
- Support and/or participates in the organization's continuous improvement program, Quality and
ISO 9001
(QS as appropriate).D. REQUIREMENTS
- Education and training - High School education and at least 2 years related experience or demonstrated educational competency and experience.
- Experience - Typically requires 1-3 years of related experience in non-destructive testing.
- Certification - Must hold a Level II certification in NDT testing methods relevant to the position.
- Technical Requirements - Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, and good communication skills are essential.
- Ability to communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisors.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel between site locations
- Physical Requirements - Sitting, Squatting, Walking, Climbing, Bending 8-10 hours per day,
- Capable of lifting or moving up to 50lbs.
- Wearing of personal protective equipment when in production areas.
- Bi-lingual preferred
E. WORKING ENVIROMENT
- The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical equipment, including forklifts, machine tools and forging presses.
- The operator is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to wet conditions and extreme cold.
- The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat.
- The employee may be exposed to noise levels more than 85dBA.
F. WORKING HOURS
The employee will be required to work a flexible schedule and will be required to frequently work overtime.Job Type:
