The anticipated candidate will work for the Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Laboratory at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The work location is in McLean, Virginia. We are interested in exploring innovative applications of NDE and structural monitoring (SM) technologies in inspections of highway infrastructure assets (e.g., bridges, pavements, tunnels, and utilities). Minimum Qualifications:

An earned bachelor's degree in physics, engineering (civil, mechanical, electronic, or aerospace), or a related field. Effective verbal/writing communication skills to follow work instructions. Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and repair NDE/SM equipment. Ability to operate heavy equipment (e.g., a forklift). Ability to acquire certifications (e.g., Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety, American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II). Ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

6+ years working experience as an engineer/technician in a similar environment. Proven records to demonstrate the skills in the listed NDE/SM technologies. Good understanding of ASTM and AASHTO standards relevant to the listed NDE and SM technologies. OSHA safety certificates. ASNT Level II or above certificates
