Pay Range:

  • 38 per hour (based on experience)

Contact to Hire (6 months to conversion)
Work Location:
On-site (ship repair / industrial waterfront environment)
Shift & Hours:
Day shift; overtime and off-shift support may be required based on project needs Overview / Job Description A large industrial ship repair organization is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist (NDT) to support ship repair and modernization efforts. This role is responsible for performing quality assurance inspections, conducting non-destructive testing (NDT), and ensuring all work complies with NAVSEA standards, approved procedures, and blueprint requirements. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in a NAVSEA environment and is comfortable working closely with production, welding, and subcontractor teams to maintain quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities Perform QA inspections across ship repair activities, including welding, fitting, and piping work Conduct NDT inspections in accordance with NAVSEA requirements and approved procedures Verify work complies with technical instructions, blueprints, and QA standards Document inspection results, findings, and corrective actions accurately and thoroughly Audit production work and identify quality issues requiring resolution Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address non-conformances Observe and oversee subcontractor NDT activities for compliance and quality Maintain inspection and NDT equipment in proper working condition Provide support to QA and NDT personnel as required Required Skills High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum of 2 years of related technical experience in a NAVSEA environment Documentation supporting Level II qualification in Visual Testing (VT) plus one additional NDT method ( PT, UT, or MT ) Knowledge of shipboard structures and ship systems Proficiency in blueprint reading and quality assurance systems Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Plusses (Nice to Have Skills & Experience) ASNT certification Knowledge of welding processes and inspection criteria Documented ultrasonic (UT) inspection experience
