Job Description:
Perform non-destructive testing on a variety of sheet metal aircraft components. Functions and Responsibilities- Process parts and interpret findings in accordance with Exotic and customer specifications and requirements.
- Follow established NDT technique sheets and ensures any revisions to established techniques meet Exotic and customer requirements.
- Support the NDT Technician 1 and provide assistance with inspection.
- Accurately document inspection findings.
- Create and revise NDT technique sheets per requirements.
- The ability to generate x-ray film for parts with simple and complex geometry.
- Detect faulty processes and bring to the attention of applicable NDT Tech or Supervisor.
- Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of NDT methods and techniques and proposes solutions to problems which impact productivity.
- Check required dimensions using calipers, micrometers and other inspection devices.
- Responsible for ensuring proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning (including correct quantities) and paperless timecard system.
- Interpret and follow written instructions, sketches, schedules, drawings and documents.
- Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.
- May demonstrate basic operations to others.
- Work under direct oversight in conventional x-ray and limited oversight in FPI.
Skills and Experience:
- Certified in FPI, Radiographic and Digital X-Ray Inspection.
- Able to read and understand manufacturing planning, engineering blueprints and sketches.
- Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Knows where to find this information at Exotic, and asks for help when necessary.
- Knowledge of shop math and precision measurement equipment.
- Possess adequate knowledge of Exotic manufacturing and NDT processes to be able to anticipate problems in order to implement effective and productive inspection techniques.
- General knowledge of welding and forming processes.
- Years of experiece is not required
