Location US-CT-Groton Seat Location EB Groton Shipyard Trade Engineering Shift 1st Security Clearance Required Secret Number of Openings 1 Overview Radiation Health is the cornerstone of the Radiological Protection program. It serves as an independent check on the health and performance of the rest of the nuclear enterprise through personnel and area monitoring, and environmental monitoring. Radiation Health is the primary contact with our four customers: workers, sailors, public, and the environment. Candidates with CHP certification are encouraged to apply. This position offers an opportunity to work within a large, multidisciplinary program supporting innovation and compliance across Electric Boat. Responsibilities of the job will include, but are not limited to: Radiation Safety Officer of the CT State Radioactive Material License for Calibration Oversight and support internal dosimetry programs Leading special projects related to continuous improvement in the radiological controls program Coordination of evaluations, surveillances, and audits to support and strengthen the oversight of the radiological controls program Direction of emergency response and personnel decontamination actions in support of the Radiological Emergency Response Organization Management of the Radiation Health Training Program Independent review and analysis of Quality Assurance programs Spectral analysis using gamma spectroscopy
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related science 10+ years of post-graduate Engineering experience Certified Health Physicist Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense Must be able to qualify as a radiation worker as specified by
NAVSEA 389-0288.
Preferred:
Radiological Health or Nuclear Engineering Degree Experience writing formal/controlled work procedures Radiological controls experience Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program experience Skills Highly motivated and able to work independently Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels.
