The sky is no longer the limit as Nidec takes its technology off the ground and into the Aerospace market. As a Safety Engineer with the Nidec Aerospace team, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your expertise to design electric propulsion systems for battery-powered aircraft that will enable the world to sustainably and efficiently get from point A to point B. Nidec is the world's leading electric motor manufacturer and a true pioneer in electrification across a wide array of industries since its foundation in 1973, ranging from appliance, and energy infrastructure, to ground transportation. Nidec Aerospace is a newly created Joint Venture between Nidec and Embraer which intends to take a leading role in the Electrification of Aircrafts. Atlanta, Georgia or BrazilPURPOSE OF ROLE
The Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the Electric Engines are designed according to the safety standards required for aerospace applications. The Safety Engineer will capture the safety requirements, perform safety analysis of the design, and elaborate the documentation to demonstrate the equipment complies with the safety requirements. The safety Engineer will influence the design team (system, motor and electronics) so that the design meet the required safety and reliability requirements. For this position the candidate will work in a collaborative cross-functional environment for the development of an Electric Engine. Job Description Responsible for the capture of the safety requirements form the customer specification and regulatory requirements Responsible for the safety review of the preliminary system and equipment architecture Responsible for the execution of safety related activities for compliance with ARP4761 Responsible for the elaboration of safety and reliability analysis and documentation such as, but not limited to: System Safety Assessment. Fault Tree Analysis.FMEA/FMECA.
Common mode Analysis. Particular Risks Analysis Use of reliability prediction computational tools such as Ram Commander to evaluate equipment failure rates Interface with the System, Equipment and Electronics engineer in order to ensure the safety related aspects. Interface with the customer as focal point for cybersecurity aspects Capture equipment requirements for compliance with cybersecurity regulationTECHNICAL ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL
Experience with new product development and phase-gate processes Experience with System Safety Assessment of aerospace systems and ARP4761 Experience with safety analysis of electronics equipment and circuits Experience with electronics reliability prediction Willingness to work with, and travel to, domestic and international design and manufacturing locations when necessary. Experience in safety aspects of high voltage equipment Experience in FAA Part 23 or Part 25.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's or Master's or PhD's degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field 7 years of experience in Safety Assessment for Electronic Equipment Additional Job Details Technical - T4 Organizational Impact- Works to achieve operational, functional, and/or business targets within team with major impact on departmental or job family results, using extensive technical principles
