(MTI) is looking for an Engineer to join our team supporting the Safety and Mission Assurance Office at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia under the newly awarded JSHIFT Contract . In this position, you will help identify, analyze, and reduce risks to personnel, equipment, and operations across a wide range of advanced research systems. You will be involved in safety and hazard analyses related to high-pressure, cryogenic, high-temperature, hydraulic, and high-speed wind tunnel systems —the kind of work that puts you at the center of real engineering challenges. You will apply proven safety methodologies such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), and undesired event analyses , while helping develop practical recommendations that improve safety and support mission success. You will also contribute to mishap investigations, risk mitigation studies, and research facility safety reviews, giving you broad exposure and meaningful experience from day one. We are looking for someone who brings strong technical thinking, clear communication, and a team-first mindset. Whether you are an experienced engineer or a recent graduate with strong internship, co-op, or research experience, we want people who are eager to learn, ready to contribute, and excited to grow. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field 2-10 years of relevant experience preferred Recent graduates with directly applicable internship, co-op, or research experience are encouraged to apply A science degree with a current Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation will also be considered Familiarity with engineering and safety standards such as ANSI, ASME, and related consensus standards Proficiency with Microsoft Office CAD experience Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment Additional IT or technical systems experience is a plus Why MTI At MTI, you will find more than just a job.
