Job Description

Optical engineering professional responsible for optical system build, alignment, testing, analysis, documentation, and deployment support. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering or Optical Sciences Master's degree preferred Experience with lab assembly and alignment of complex optical systems Solid understanding of optical theory and principles of application Experience in optical system design and layout using Zemax Ability to travel approximately 10% in support of system deployment or customer engagement U.S. citizenship required Ability to pass a mandatory background check Preferred Skills Experience with adaptive optics systems Experience with optical breadboard assembly and alignment Experience with laser communications systems Experience with lasers in benchtop or field applications Experience with autocollimators, alignment telescopes, and interferometers Active U.S. security clearance Job Responsibilities Build optical systems and related optical instrumentation to requirements and specifications Document optical alignment and test results at the component, sub-system, and system level to ensure requirements are met Analyze optical systems under senior staff supervision, including wavefront error, stray light, and tolerance sensitivity, using Zemax or similar professional tools Compare optical analysis results to system requirements Support maturation of existing products and manufacturing processes through documentation, procedures, and support infrastructure Write and contribute to design documentation, operational specifications, and project briefings for internal and customer use Conduct optical component searches and work with vendors to identify suitable parts Participate in customer briefings, presentations, and meetings
