09/13/2026 Job Description Job Description About Mimir Engineering Mimir Engineering is a precision engineering service provider with a team that spans multiple disciplines and backgrounds. We work across a broad industry base with a specific focus on the end-to-end development of aerospace optical systems and capabilities in design, analysis, and manufacturing (i.e. AI&T). We enjoy the technical and team-building aspects of tackling the most challenging engineering problems.
SENIOR ENGINEER
Essential Functions Design and develop assemblies and sub-systems for a diverse range of applications such as remote sensing, communications, data analytics, defense, etc. Develop innovative technical solutions to meet performance and survivability requirements of hardware Design, build, and test prototypes, flight hardware, and ground support equipment (GSE) as necessary Drive appropriate system sizing and design/selection of components using engineering judgement and detailed knowledge of fundamentals, including the use of classical hand calculations and finite element modeling (FEM) Create detailed engineering documentation (CAD models, drawings, BOMs, reports, instructions, presentations, etc.) as necessary to support project needs Provide expert guidance to clients and other staff members working on difficult technical problems Anticipate future engineering needs and the modifications required to accomplish a technical goal Work on projects independently and/or with a multi-disciplined team Effectively manage multiple tasks and juggle multiple projects Mentor and assist junior engineers Collaborate with others in the development of project plans, proposals, and schedules Prepare slides for and present in customer design reviews and meetings as required Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications and Desired Skills Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or related technical discipline 8 years of experience in opto-mechanical design or other precision mechanical design Demonstrated understanding of optical integration techniques and considerations Ability to assist, independently perform, and/or delegate work tasks Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills Proficiency with SolidWorks (CAD & simulation), Matlab, and Zemax Prior experience in a consulting environment is a plus Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in an evolving environment Proactive approach to problem solving in a collaborative work environment Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident) Ability to work extended hours and travel as required
