As part of our Display Technologies group, you'll help ensure our products' displays work beautifully through the successful design, fabrication, and implementation of components in Apple devices. From initial concept to mass production, you'll develop highly innovative displays for the Apple Watch. Together, you'll collaborate with multifunctional teams across Apple to make each interaction a magical experience to see and touch. Description We are looking for a Display Module Engineer to help architect, develop and ship flat panel displays for the Apple Watch. You will be advancing display modules at the fundamental device physics/material level all the way up to system level integration and software definition. You will serve as the focal point for all display matters, collaborating with the system team, software team, display and touch domain authorities, operations and quality teams, and our supply chain partners. You will do whatever is necessary to cultivate our new displays with a quality and feature set that we will be proud to put our name behind. In this role, you will lead the multi-functional team to set goals and priorities every step of the way to ensure a smooth and successful product launch. You will own the display module master specification, from pre-concept phase through mass production ramp. This will require hands-on lab work to test and characterize display performance and troubleshoot issues with display quality (for example: front of screen, optical performance, reliability). During critical new product introduction phases, you will also be willing and able to travel to international sites to support builds at component, module, and system factories. You will effectively lead supply chain partnerships, pushing the technology forward and strengthening vendor relations using exceptional collaboration abilities. As an innovator, you will scout and evaluate the best materials, processes, architecture and technology from current and potential suppliers, and communicate across the company to gain necessary support from key Apple leaders. Preferred Qualifications BS and three years of experience in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Science, or Materials Science. Excellent project management, communications and multi-functional leadership skills. Knowledge and experience in display specific optics. Experience with module engineering and mass production procedures. Experience with failure analysis connecting optical device performance to display module outcomes. Minimum Qualifications Minimum requirement of a bachelors degree Technical experience in a subset of the following fields: optical design and characterization, optical and/or human visual physics, semiconductor optoelectronics, display technologies, optical sensor technologies. Experience in benchtop and industry standard optical measurement systems (characterization, test, and validation). Experience using programming languages used for data acquisition (e.g. Python, LabVIEW), statistical analysis (e.g.
JMP, MATLAB
) and/or optical simulation tools (e.g. LightTools). Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $126,800 and $220,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
