Job Description

This full-time Senior Opto Mechanical Engineer II opportunity offers the chance to work on advanced laser-based medical instrumentation, leading product development from concept through commercialization while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and wants to have a direct impact on innovative technologies. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with expertise in optical systems, mechanical design, and medical device development. You'll have the opportunity to drive new product innovation, mentor teams, influence product strategy, and work on technologies that move from early-stage concepts to market-ready products. Required Skills & Experience BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field 10+ years of Mechanical Design Engineering experience within the laser, optics, or medical device industry 5+ years leading technical development projects and engineering teams Strong experience with SOLIDWORKS and PDM systems Experience designing optical and opto-mechanical systems Knowledge of optical alignment, packaging, tolerancing, and stability analysis Experience developing products within FDA-regulated and
ISO 13485
environments Strong project management and leadership skills Experience taking products from design through manufacturing transfer Desired Skills & Experience MS in Mechanical Engineering Experience with thermal management systems for lasers and optics Experience integrating mechanical, optical, and electronic subsystems Rapid prototyping experience for clinical and pre-clinical studies Familiarity with CE Mark, FDA, and global medical device regulatory requirements Experience managing suppliers and external development partners Patent development or intellectual property experience What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown 40% Opto-Mechanical Design & Product Development 25% Technical Leadership & Project Management 20% Medical Device Compliance & Documentation 15% Manufacturing Transfer & Product Support Daily Responsibilities 70% Hands On 10% Management Duties 20% Team Collaboration
