Job Description:

Principal Optical Engineer (2 positions) with expertise designing/optimizing optical imaging systems, ideally with zoom lenses... for DoD clients - taking them from concept to production. MUST be a US citizen or Permanent Resident Primary duties: Develop optical architectures per stds. for MTF, distortion, field of view, resolution & stray light control Tolerance analysis and manufacturability assessments Work with MEs/EEs/Systems Engineers on system integration Create optical specs and documentation for suppliers/internal teams Support prototype builds, optical testing, process development, and design validation Interface with Optical/Mfg. vendors for lens fabrication, coatings, and assembly Troubleshoot optical performance during development and production Help improve optical design method/tools Required BS/MS/PhD in Optical Eng, Physics, Applied Optics 7+ years of lens design/optical system development Geometrical/physical optics, aberration theory, optical tolerancing & stray light/ghost analysis Strong coding experience - Zemax, OpticStudio, Matlab Preferred IR systems (SWIR / MWIR / LWIR) Support production optics, yield improvement, and precision alignment Optical testing (interferometry, MTF) Previous experience working within a stringently regulated industry Why this position?
