POSITION SUMMARY
- The Experimental Division is seeking a Scientist with expertise in shock physics. A successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of dynamic compression experiments with experience designing and conducting experiments using gas gun or laser drivers.
RESPONSIBLITIES
- : + Design, build, and trouble-shoot experimental platforms to measure the equation of state, structural changes, and deformation and fracture of materials.

QUALIFICATIONS
- + PhD in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field + US Citizenship + Ability to obtain a security clearance
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- + Experience with optical velocity measurements (photon doppler velocimetry [PDV] or velocity interferometer for any reflector [VISAR]) in dynamic compression experiments.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- + Experience with programming language such as Python or C++ Experience with shock physics material codes such as Hyades or CTH + Experience with x-ray or optical spectroscopy + Technical writing experience and documentation skills + Attention to detail

SALARY RANGE
$82,500-$110,000 Annually The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job.
