Our OptiGauge and Lumetrics Wavefront Sensor (LWS) family of products provides precision thickness measurement technology, which is fast, accurate, flexible, and scalable to most QA laboratories, R D centers, or production lines. This position is an on-site, full-time role. Essential job functions include, but not limited to, the following:
  • Work primarily on advancing government contracts related to the measurement of transparent armor, and the design of related equipment
  • Use electrical, optical, and mechanical engineering principles to design complex automated instruments
  • Create solid models, drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks
  • Use GD&T and other industry standards during design
  • Act as the primary technical liaison for customers, translating their needs into actionable engineering developments.
  • Build, test and verify mechanical, optical, and electronics assemblies
  • Obtain parts quotes and qualify vendors
  • Complete multiple concurrent technical projects on time
  • Write procedures, manuals, user requirements, design specifications, and other project documentation
  • Become a key stakeholder in the transfer of new products to the manufacturing department by standardizing mechanical layouts, creating clear build guides, and creating structural documentation for new products
  • Use best engineering practices to reduce the BOM cost of prototypes when transferring to manufacturing
  • Travel domestically and internationally for new project installations or existing equipment support
  • Occasionally work "international" hours for customers in different time zones
  • Support the manufacturing department as required
  • Participate in company strategy meetings, as required
Qualifications:
  • BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 8-10 years engineering experience, preferably in optics, metrology, or automation
  • Experience with design and fabrication of machined and sheet metal components
  • Mastery of SolidWorks
  • Experience with 3D printing (FDM, MSLA)
  • Experience with freespace optomechanical design with a focus on robust shippable products
  • Familiarity with Matlab, LabView, and other technical applications
  • Candidate should be self-motivated, conscientious, pay extreme attention to detail, exhibit strong observational, listening and public speaking skills, and possess excellent writing skills This position requires in-office presence and does not offer a relocation package.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $90,000 - $162,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience.
