Job Description
Photonics Scientist Leidos seeks a Phonics Scientist to develop, model, and test advanced photonic and electro-optical systems supporting national security and critical infrastructure missions. In this role, you will design experiments, analyze complex optical data, and translate research into deployable solutions for government and commercial customers. Collaborating with cross-functional engineering and software teams, you'll prototype, validate, and optimize photonic components and sensing architectures. Leverage cutting-edge tools, publish findings, and mentor junior staff within a highly collaborative, mission-driven, and ethically focused environment. Design, model, and analyze advanced photonic and electro-optical systems for national security and critical infrastructure applications. Plan and execute laboratory experiments, collect measurements, and validate photonic components and architectures. Develop simulations and algorithms for optical propagation, sensing, and signal/image processing. Collaborate with cross-functional software, systems, and hardware teams to transition research concepts into deployable solutions. Document designs, analyses, and test results; prepare technical reports and customer briefings. Contribute to proposals, technical roadmaps, and innovation initiatives in photonics and sensing. Mentor junior engineers and scientists in photonics methods, tools, and best practices. Ensure compliance with quality, security, and ethical standards on sensitive government programs.
