The SCADA/Modeling Applications Engineer is responsible for the engineering, administration, maintenance, and enhancement of the mission-critical applications supporting the AECC Transmission Operations Center. Engineers support EMS, SCADA, network modeling, communication interfaces, and supporting infrastructure used to operate AECC's assets safely, reliably, and efficiently.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineer I Develop foundational knowledge while supporting the EMS and SCADA databases, network applications, ICCP model, and HMIs for real-time operations. Support mission-critical applications such as State Estimation and Contingency Analysis. Ensure modeling standards and SCADA telemetry configurations comply with strict reliability guidelines and NERC requirements. Collaborate in the SCADA and RTU commissioning of transmission assets. SupportSCADA/EMS
system upgrades, migrations, patching, and performance optimization initiatives. Collaborate with training staff and real-time operations to support the operator training simulator. Support software testing and upgrades as assigned. Provide technical support in a teamwork environment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT network administrators, Engineering, contractors, operators, and cybersecurity specialists, to ensure optimal operations. Comply with AECC's Policies and Procedures. Maintain a competent level of knowledge about the company's business and the roles and responsibilities of each division. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. Engineer II Build, configure, and maintain the EMS and SCADA databases, network applications, and HMIs for real-time operations. Maintain the ICCP model. Implement and troubleshoot mission-critical applications such as State Estimation and Contingency Analysis. Ensure modeling standards and SCADA telemetry configurations comply with strict reliability guidelines and NERC requirements. Collaborate in the SCADA and RTU commissioning of transmission assets. SupportSCADA/EMS
system upgrades, migrations, patching, and performance optimization initiatives. Collaborate with training staff and real-time operations to customize, validate, and maintain the operator training simulator. Support or lead software testing and upgrades as assigned. Independently support or lead projects as assigned. Provide technical support in a teamwork environment, including onboarding and training of less experienced engineers and/or operators. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT network administrators, Engineering, contractors, operators, and cybersecurity specialists, to ensure optimal operations. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Engineer I - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; and/or 0-2 years of industry-related experience in SCADA, EMS, Network Applications, Transmission Operations, Control Systems, Communications Systems, or Information Technology. An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requirement. Engineer II - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; and/or 2-5 years of industry-related experience in SCADA, EMS, Network Applications, Transmission Operations, Control Systems, Communications Systems, or Information Technology. An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requirement. Engineer III - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; and/or 5-8 years of industry-related experience in SCADA, EMS, Network Applications, Transmission Operations, Control Systems, Communications Systems, or Information Technology. An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requirement. Senior Engineer - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; and/or 8+ years of industry-related experience in SCADA, EMS, Network Applications, Transmission Operations, Control Systems, Communications Systems, or Information Technology. An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requirement.REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Engineer I Valid Drviers License. NERC RC Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year. Engineer II Valid Drviers License. NERC RC Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year. Experience and skilled within the OSI EMS database modeling environment. In-depth knowledge of interconnected transmission system operations, SCADA and EMS systems, and training and modeling practices. Experience and knowledge of current MISO and SPP standards, operating policies, procedures, and guidelines. Engineer III Valid Drviers License.
