What to Expect This position is expected to begin January 2027 and continue through April 2027. Internships at Tesla are generally full-time, onsite roles that last a minimum of 12 weeks.

International Students:

If your work authorization is via CPT, consult your school regarding your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week onsite. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year. About the Team As an Embedded Software Engineering Intern on the High Voltage System (HVS) Team, you will have the opportunity to help deliver the high-quality software that enables our vehicles to be the best in the world. The team develops all the softwarerequiredto make our products (past, present, and future) the best they can be by writing low-level firmware drivers, implementing software algorithms, and designing and building validation/test infrastructure. The HVS team places an especially large emphasis on ensuring we deliver a product that is safe, reliable, has high-quality user-facing indicators (i.e.range, SOC, power, etc.), andoptimizesour overall customer experience. Your efforts with the team to engineer robust, scalable, and performant systems would directly contribute to meeting each of those goals. What You'll Do Your application for the HVS Internship will be considered across all opportunities for the team listed below: Firmware Development Develop low-level FW drivers to support new and existing microcontrollers

Design and implement real-time software algorithms for features across the high voltage system including the battery management system, power conversion system, the charge port, and more Various features include state of charge (SOC) estimation, power estimation, AC-DC conversion, DC-DC conversion, and supporting new charging protocols among many other features

Work with various cross-functional teams to develop requirements and test plans for new software features, diagnostics, algorithms, etc. Validation Infrastructure Develop scalable software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) infrastructure for rapid prototyping, simulation, and validation

Develop and enhance existing battery and hardware models to ensure simulations are representative of the real-world

Design simulation frameworks that are flexible to being integrated both with other Tesla subcomponents as well as behavioral models for those subcomponents What You'll Bring

Currently working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field of studywith a graduation date between May 2027 - May 2028

Proficiencyin C and/or C++ as well as python

Strong software fundamentals

Experience working with large-scale coding projects over an extended period

Experience with real-time systems and embedded microprocessor tools

Experience with control systems

Experience with fundamental hardware components and their analysis tools

Experience with reading datasheets and hardware schematics

Expected Compensation

$42.07 - $58.89 + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
