View the SENS Product Catalog Summary The Director of Power Conversion & Energy Storage is responsible for defining and executing the company's technology strategy for power electronics, battery systems, battery monitoring, and energy storage solutions. This role provides technical and organizational leadership for the design and development of advanced power conversion systems, energy storage solutions, battery technologies, and associated control systems that support the company's current and future product portfolio. The Director will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams responsible for power electronics, battery systems, energy storage integration, and related technology development while driving innovation, technical excellence, and platform reuse across multiple product lines. This role is responsible for building organizational capacity, developing technical talent and advancing the company's leadership in industrial power systems, energy storage systems (ESS), backup power, engine starting solutions, and future grid-scale energy applications. Responsibilities Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for power conversion, battery systems, energy and storage technologies. Own the strategy, development and lifecycle management of scalable technology platforms that support multiple product families and promote platform reuse across the organization. Drive engineering execution for new technologies, platform enhancements, advanced development initiatives, and technology maturation programs. Oversee battery systems engineering, including architecture development, integration strategies, safety systems, BMS development, performance optimization, and technology evaluation. Lead power electronics development, including high-power conversion systems, digital controls, power architectures, magnetics, high-voltage systems, and efficiency improvements. Develop and maintain technology roadmaps for power electronics, battery systems, energy storage platforms, BMS technologies, power semiconductors, and emerging energy solutions. Drive innovation through the evaluation of emerging technologies, advanced energy storage architectures, and thermal management solutions while supporting intellectual property development. Collaborate closely with systems engineering, embedded systems, mechanical engineering, validation, manufacturing, and compliance teams to ensure successful technology integration and product development. Identify and manage technical risks associated with new technologies, product performance, safety systems, and energy storage solutions, developing mitigation and technology maturation plans as needed. Foster collaboration across engineering and business functions. Conduct performance reviews and appraisals to evaluate team members' performance and drive a culture of accountability and execution. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership roles. Proven success developing and commercializing power electronics, battery systems, or energy storage products. Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex product development programs. Strong technical expertise in several of the following areas: Power electronics, Battery systems and battery management systems (BMS), Energy storage systems (ESS), High-voltage power systems, Digital controls and embedded systems, Industrial and grid-interactive power systems, Thermal management. Experience bringing advanced technologies from concept through commercialization. Strong communications skills. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree or advanced degree in power electronics, energy systems, or related field.
