SERVICE WORKER III

UTILITY

DISTRIBUTION DIVISION

PUBLIC

UTILITIES DEPARTMENT

MAJOR FUNCTION

This is skilled work in various utilities maintenance tasks within the City's Public Utilities Department. Work is performed under the supervision of the Utility Distribution Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Responsible for being a team leader for the installations and repair of city water and sewer lines. Responsible for performing installation and repair of water meters. Must work closely with Utility Billing, City Departments, and the general public on projects and issues pertaining to water and sewer utilities. Conducts utility locates as needed. Assists in emergency calls related to the Public Utilities Department. All other duties, as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of the City's utility

services and the equipment/tools involved in maintenance and repair. Knowledge of the geography of the utility service area. Ability to operate and install meter reading devices. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, and to establish good working relations with City employees and the general public.

High School graduation or GED and three years' experience in the maintenance and repair of water and wastewater systems is required. Must have a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License Class "B". Must obtain a Class "C" Water Distribution License within one (1) year of employment.

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Must be able to work nights, weekends and be available for twenty-four hour standby duty as needed.

HIRING RATE

$45,024 Annually
