$35-37 per hour Position Summary The Factory Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, and supporting automation systems across shop floor equipment and manufacturing processes. This role focuses on PLC and HMI development, MES/SCADA integration, and troubleshooting production issues to ensure efficient and reliable operations. The position also involves supporting system connectivity, improving process control, and collaborating across teams to deliver automation solutions in a manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Design and update electrical systems, prints, and programs for machines, shop floor tooling, and equipment, including human-machine interfaces (HMI) and programmable logic controllers (PLC) Create and maintain interfaces for communicating with shop-floor tools, PLC controls, SCADA, and MES systems Lead and execute intermediate to complex controls engineering tasks, which may integrate multiple engineering disciplines and require limited management or coordination of cross-functional teams, external design professionals, and contractors Respond to critical production downtime situations impacting manufacturing and maintenance activities Support the integration (installation and networking) of shop floor machines, equipment, and tooling into site MES and PLC systems Required Skills Background in Engineering (Electrical, Controls, Computer, or related disciplines) Proficiency in PLC and computer programming, Structured Query Language (SQL), and associated engineering tools Knowledge of electrical design principles, applicable codes, standard practices, and relevant engineering tools Knowledge of MES/SCADA
solutions (SAP-MES, AMES, JDAAT, Ignition, etc.), process control, process scheduling, mistake-proofing of manufacturing processes, and shop floor device connectivity Project management experience demonstrating effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of experience in one or more related engineering areas (electrical, controls, computer engineering, etc.) 3+ years of experience working with engineering tools, systems, and databases 3+ years of experience in electrical design and troubleshooting 3+ years of experience in PLC and/or PC programming 2+ years of experience managing moderate to large-scale, complex projects Education Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline OR 3+ years of related work experience #LI-SD1
