Job Description

Constellation Energy seeks a Senior Structural/Civil Engineer to join our Engineering & Design team in the Energy & Utilities sector. You will lead structural and civil design for energy infrastructure projects, ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include performing calculations, reviewing drawings, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting construction and maintenance activities. Responsibilities Lead the structural and civil engineering design of energy and utility projects, including power generation, transmission, renewable facilities, and related infrastructure. Develop and review structural calculations, drawings, and specifications for steel, concrete, and foundation systems that support energy equipment and facilities. Coordinate closely with electrical, mechanical, and project management teams to integrate structural and civil solutions into multi-disciplinary project designs. Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, including IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, and relevant utility/energy regulations. Oversee and guide junior engineers and designers, providing mentorship, technical review, and coaching to elevate team capability and quality. Participate in site evaluations, condition assessments, and field walkdowns to verify existing conditions and support constructability reviews. Support the development of project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and technical proposals for new and ongoing energy and utility projects. Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and external engineering partners to resolve design issues and ensure safe, efficient, and timely project execution. Identify opportunities to enhance structural and civil design practices with innovative, sustainable solutions that support Constellation Energy's environmental and decarbonization goals. Prepare clear, well-documented engineering reports, design narratives, and calculations suitable for internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and external clients. Required Skills Structural analysis and design Civil engineering design for site and infrastructure Finite element analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD, or similar) CAD and BIM tools (e.g., Auto CAD, Revit, Civil 3 D) Load calculations and foundation design Knowledge of building codes and structural standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI) Seismic and wind design for energy infrastructure Steel, concrete, and foundation design for industrial facilities Project management and scheduling Construction document preparation and review Technical writing for reports and calculations Cross-functional collaboration with electrical and mechanical teams Risk assessment and mitigation for structural/civil systems Mentoring and technical leadership Data-driven decision making and problem solving
