Chelsea, MI, United States (On-site) Contract (6 months 10 days) Published 5 days ago Vehicle Testing Data Acquisition & Analysis Problem - Solving Skills regulatory compliance Debugging & Troubleshooting cross - functional collaboration presentation skills time management The Conformity & Homologation Testing engineer is responsible for vehicle level testing to support vehicle level emissions certification. Testing includes regulatory coast down (CD), roller dyno fuel economy (and EV range) labels to support the Monroney and Environmental Performance Labels, and straight-line performance. Additional tasks include regulatory reporting of CD coefficients, Fuel Economy and Coast down audits for carryover and satisfying the annual
CAFE/GHG
reporting requirements.
Key responsibilities:
The team works closely with the Efficiency Synthesis Design (ESD) team within Energy Management, under Energy Management and Aerothermal (EMAT) within the Physical & Functional Design & Integration (PFDI) organization. The role consists of vehicle-level testing (performed by union mechanics) and data collection that the engineer coordinates, processes, and analyzes. In-vehicle opportunities exist, but vehicle-based testing is performed by union personnel. Emission rolls dynamometers, straight-line performance and coastdown on a straightaway and oval track summarize the different testing environments. We test and evaluate current and future company vehicle programs and competitive vehicles to support regulatory, development, benchmarking and target setting activities. Individual travel during the year is limited (typically 1-2wks), with the historical location being in Arizona during Q1.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university 3+ years of vehicle powertrain testing/experience Working knowledge with hardware data acquisition systems. Good time management and organizational skills, chassis dyno emissions testing. Good trouble shooting, problem resolution and debugging skills. Excellent communication skills, team player with strong computer skills. Vehicle level testing experience working with a variety of groups and personalities. Product plan and 8 (plus) month goal setting experience with reporting milestones is typical.
Optional Skills:
5+ years of vehicle powertrain testing/experience. EPA related regulatory Emissions and/or Fuel Economy testing experience ICE, PHEV, HEV and BEV vehicle level testing experience. Experience with fuel economy regulations.
ETAS/INCA
equipment and data acquisition. Working knowledge of engine/trans calibration background. Strong familiarity with software and programming experience is a PLUS.
