Internally, we call this position an Application Solutions Engineer - Electrical Solutions (Wire Harnessing) . What are we looking for? Someone that will support customers and Sales with hands-on technical consulting, application testing, and implementation support via our Customer Solution Center (CSC). This person will help grow our business in automotive and e-mobility wire harness applications. In this role, you will be the technical expert—translating harness requirements into reliable tape and process solutions for bundling & wrapping, abrasion and noise protection, thermal protection, and process-efficient taping (manual and automated).
• The person selected for this position will split their time between our Customer Solution Center in Sparta and our Novi office; 2-3 days in each location every week. How you'll help the formula: Provide technical consulting to customers and Sales for wire harness applications and tape selection. Plan and execute application testing (e.g., adhesion, temperature/humidity aging, abrasion/noise performance, compatibility with cable jackets, process simulation, benchmarking). Support customer trials and line implementations: define success criteria, run trials, document results, and deliver clear recommendations. Troubleshoot quality/process issues at customer sites using structured root-cause analysis. Drive co-development projects with key customers and internal teams (Sales, Product Development, Operations, Quality). Deliver trainings (internal/external) and contribute to best-practice standards and documentation. Other duties as assigned.
Key elements for your role:
BS/MS in Engineering or Science (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, Chemical) or equivalent experience. 3-5 years' experience in wire harness manufacturing, automotive electrical systems, manufacturing/process engineering, technical service/application engineering, or related industrial field roles.
Strong hands-on mindset:
test planning, data interpretation, concise reporting, and customer communication. Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable working cross-functionally. Willingness to travel ~40% within the USA. Must have a valid license and passport to travel to Mexico approx. 5 times/year.
