The Role Come join the Advanced Systems Design team as we electrify innovative eCommerce and Non-Automotive projects on land, sea or air! We are seeking passionate engineers with a creativity and passion towards shaping our future. As a Thermal Systems Engineer you will apply GM's electrification technology to a wide variety of new and innovative applications. Most projects will combine cutting edge energy storage technology, mixed with a wide variety of motors, chargers, power converters and microgrids. You will be leading the way toward GM's zero emissions vision and beyond!
What You'll Do:
Work directly with customers from many industries to understand their needs and develop electrification solutions to fulfil them Analyze solutions to assess thermal management capability and support other areas including electrical, life, and others required by the unique applications Develop and balance system, component, and sub-component specifications for the various elements of energy storage and conversion systems including functional, performance, safety, and compliance requirements Support the development of an efficient energy storage and conversion solution strategy - including batteries, power electronics, controls, thermal systems and other associated hardware Collaborate with internal and external partners to evaluate product technical solutions to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable designs. Work cross-functionally to curate efficient technologies/solutions/components for innovative product design Collaborate in a team environment and/or take charge of opportunities to develop optimal solutions for customers and development programs Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): Bachelor's degree in electrical, chemical, mechanical, or other relevant engineering field required 2 years or more of product development experience in the thermal management of high voltage batteries and/or electrical systems Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills required to effectively work with others in group situations Demonstrated high level of agility and desire to work in a complex and evolving environment and an innovation mindset Highly proficient in oral and written communication skills Team player attitude internally and externally Willing to travel 10-15% of the time What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications): Master's in engineering or business administration desired Familiarity with multi-physics modeling and CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) techniques desired GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
