Job Title:
Systems Engineer Job Description The Electrical Electronics and Vehicle Connectivity (EEVC) department is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the development, validation, and troubleshooting of vehicle electrical and electronic systems. This role is integral to ensuring the proper functionality of systems through software updates, functional testing, and issue resolution to support vehicle readiness and road approval activities. Responsibilities Perform software and hardware updates for test vehicles. Conduct root cause analysis for functional problems identified. Perform measurements in various points of the electrical system and log vehicle data needed for troubleshooting. Support problem resolution by teaming up with development engineers as needed. Recommend solutions and provide feedback to development teams both locally and globally. Issue problem reports for defects identified in vehicles' electrical and electronic systems. Conduct test activities to support the road approval process for test vehicles. Participate in design implementation through training and knowledge transfer activities. Update databases used in fault tracing and provide feedback on the test truck build process. Propose improvements in root cause analysis. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, or related field) or equivalent experience. Strong understanding of commercial truck systems and vehicle functionality. Hands-on experience with CAN tools (e.g., CANape) for data logging and diagnostics. Familiarity with modern sensor technologies, including ADAS systems. Experience troubleshooting and repairing wiring harnesses and vehicle electrical systems. Ability to perform structured diagnostics and identify issues related to software parameters and system integration. Additional Skills & Qualifications 5 years of experience in commercial vehicle system verification and/or EE system design. MSEE degree desired. Experience supporting vehicle builds, testing, or validation activities. Exposure to vehicle electrical architecture and communication protocols (e.g., CAN/J1939). Familiarity with vehicle test processes related to road approval and compliance. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Ability to travel within the US, with international travel preferred. Work Environment The position is based onsite at the Greensboro Headquarters in the Tech Center, with 20% travel required, typically one week per month, to support new truck builds at plants like NRV or Macungie. The role demands the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Greensboro, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $44.00 - $47.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
