ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Systems Engineer will work as an integral part of the Lycoming team to support the existing engineering framework and project initiatives to meet the growing evolution in digitization and electronification of the propulsion sub-systems in the general aviation space. The selected individual will be responsible for different paradigms of engineering frameworks and eventually leading the program with the product design lifecycle.

Job responsibilities include:

Develop requirements and specifications for mechanical and electrical systems Develop certification plans and supporting artifacts to meet applicable regulatory compliance of these complex systems Develop trade study analysis with adequate support and supervision of senior engineers Testing of systems for both feasibility (engineering level) and certification (for-credit testing) Generate test reports based on test results and establish congruence from engineering leaders and/or Lycoming Organization Designation Authority (ODA) Assist with familiarization briefs to internal/external customers and cross-functional teams for alignment in scope of a project Assist Lycoming product support team with field related troubleshooting of current engine systems as an engineering representative Assist Lycoming production floor with engineering needs as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering or related field Understanding of propulsion systems specifically Internal Combustion Engine is preferred Interpersonal Savvy and ability to work with cross-functional team is a desirable attribute Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple programs and/or multiple activities within a program Understanding of General Aviation market and its landscape is desirable Excellent presentation skills required - MS Office Suite conversant (PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Project, Word) Ability to travel 25% of the time Prior internship experience in the aviation or automotive industry is a plus Understanding of Six Sigma methodologies is a plus Knowledge/use of Aerospace standards is a plus (DO-178, DO-160, etc.) Test plan creation, documentation, reporting skills is a plus You will not now, or in the future, require sponsorship (i.e. H-1B visa, etc.) to legally work in the
