Job Description

Summary Under minimal supervision, the Controls Engineer IV
  • SCADA Focus is a senior technical role responsible for leading the development, deployment, and optimization of large-scale SCADA systems within material handling and industrial automation environments.
This role focuses on SCADA architecture, platform configuration, integration across enterprise systems, and advanced visualization. The engineer will serve as the technical lead on SCADA-centric projects while supporting controls team standardization and mentoring efforts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. System Architecture & Standardization Architect SCADA system architecture for high-availability environments. Establish and enforce platform standards, tag structures, security models, and visualization templates. Lead documentation and versioning of SCADA platform configurations and integration points. Technical Leadership & Execution Develop and deploy SCADA systems using platforms such as Ignition, Wonderware (AVEVA), FactoryTalk View SE, and WinCC. Integrate SCADA systems with PLC networks, MES layers, and enterprise databases. Configure alarms, historian data logging, secure user access levels, and site connectivity. Lead FAT/SAT efforts and commissioning of SCADA deployments across multiple sites. Team Development & Mentorship Mentor Controls Engineers I-III on SCADA architecture and standards. Lead internal knowledge sharing sessions on SCADA best practices and tool usage. Support training documentation and contribute to onboarding new team members focused on SCADA. Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with Controls, Software, and Electrical teams for complete system integration. Work with IT departments on network requirements, database configurations, and security compliance. Engage with customers to define SCADA interface expectations, user roles, and reporting needs. Strategic Growth & Innovation Evaluate emerging SCADA technologies and tools (e.g., MQTT, Edge gateways, cloud visualization). Develop strategies for centralized monitoring, system redundancy, and future scalability. Contribute to digital transformation initiatives across the division (e.g., unified dashboards, KPIs, remote diagnostics).
