Job Title:
Integration EngineerJob Description The Integration Engineer supports the integration and validation of software configurations for energy storage projects, ensuring they meet customer and project requirements. This role focuses on configuring and troubleshooting industrial communications, validating integrated software features in test environments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-quality energy storage solutions. Responsibilities + Support the integration and validation of energy storage project-based software configurations against customer and project requirements. + Assist in configuring and troubleshooting industrial communications for energy storage systems, including Modbus (TCP/RTU), DNP3, and related TCP/IP-based network infrastructure. + Develop and execute structured test plans to verify system functionality, safety, and reliability. + Validate integrated software features within automated test platforms and hardware-in-the-loop environments. + Support project design engineering, system integration, execution, and commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle. + Read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams, mechanical drawings, and network diagrams to support system integration activities. + Assist with the configuration and validation of field assets such as batteries, power converters, meters, and protective relays. + Utilize electrical test equipment to support system verification, diagnostics, and troubleshooting efforts. + Collaborate effectively within a fast-paced, cross-functional team to deliver high-quality solutions for energy storage applications. + Assist software teams with integration-related development efforts, including configuration tooling, automation enhancements, and deployment support. + Apply AI-driven tools and workflows to streamline integration processes, automate routine tasks, and improve overall system performance. + Support field commissioning and testing activities as needed to ensure successful deployment and operation of energy storage systems. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. + Foundational understanding of three-phase power system principles, including voltage and frequency behavior and grid stability concepts. + Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking, including LAN/WAN configuration and cybersecurity best practices. + Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus (TCP/RTU) and DNP3. + Ability to configure and troubleshoot industrial communications and related network infrastructure for energy storage systems. + Ability to utilize AI-driven tools and workflows to streamline processes, automate tasks, and improve performance. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think independently in a dynamic work environment. + Ability to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams, mechanical drawings, and network diagrams. + Comfort using electrical test equipment for system verification and troubleshooting. + Willingness to support field commissioning and testing activities as needed. + Effective collaboration skills for working in fast-paced, cross-functional teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience or familiarity with Python for automation, scripting, or integration-related tooling. + Exposure to energy storage systems, batteries, power converters, meters, and protective relays. + Experience working with automated test platforms and hardware-in-the-loop environments. + Understanding of configuration tooling and automation enhancements to support software deployment. + Interest in applying AI-driven approaches to improve engineering workflows and system integration. + Ability to document test plans, integration procedures, and troubleshooting findings clearly and accurately. Work Environment The Integration Engineer works in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that supports the design, integration, testing, and commissioning of energy storage systems. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional engineering and software teams, frequent use of industrial communication technologies such as Modbus, DNP3, and TCP/IP networking, and regular interaction with automated test platforms and hardware-in-the-loop setups. The position includes both office and lab-based work, with hands-on use of electrical test equipment and field assets such as batteries, power converters, meters, and protective relays. The engineer may occasionally support field commissioning and testing activities, which can involve travel to project sites and working in operational energy facilities while following standard safety and technical procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Durham, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
