Full Job Description Low Voltage Systems Designer, RCDD Position Overview:
Position Summary CEG is seeking a low voltage systems designer to add to our Team. The successful candidate will perform the design work for fire alarm, access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, intercom systems, nurse call, data infrastructures, and other related low-voltage systems. The role would require surveying existing conditions, developing system layouts, reviewing pathways, producing construction drawings, and editing our master specifications to the design. The designer will work with our drafter team and coordinate with other engineering teams. Responsibilities Design structured cabling systems, telecommunications rooms, backbone and horizontal pathways, and grounding and bonding for new construction and renovation projects Design and coordinate fire alarm, nurse call and duress alarm, intercom and callbox, access control, video surveillance, and visitor screening systems, with particular attention to the requirements of secure and behavioral health environments Conduct site investigations of existing facilities to document conditions, verify as-built information, and identify constraints Edit Division 27 and 28 specifications in CSI MasterFormat, and adapt them to agency and project-specific standards Work with our drafting team to prepare construction drawings in Revit. Coordinate low-voltage designs other disciplines Support construction administration, including responses to RFIs, review submittals, and periodic site observation Participate in design review meetings with our engineering team and Clients. Qualifications BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification Minimum four years of low-voltage design experience with a consulting engineering firm or design-build contractor. Demonstrated experience writing technical specifications Working knowledge of
TIA-568, TIA-569, TIA-607, NFPA 72, NEC
Chapters 7 and 8, and the BICSI Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual Create markups in Bluebeam Revu for drafters to pick up in Revit Ability to travel to project sites throughout Washington, typically once per month Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Experience with Washington State public works projects, particularly DES-managed projects Experience designing for behavioral health, correctional, juvenile rehabilitation, or other secure facilities Familiarity with existing-facility renovation work, including phasing and maintaining system operation during construction Additional credentials such as NICET Fire Alarm Systems, BICSI DCDC or OSP, or
AVIXA CTS-D
are a plus. Location and Schedule Candidates located in Washington are strongly preferred, given the frequency of site visits to state facilities. CEG offers a work from home arrangement with in-person site investigations. Well-qualified candidates elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest will be considered. Compensation and Benefits $120k to $150k per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
