Day in the Life You start your day remotely, syncing with the Early-Stage Project Manager and Development Group to shape the engineering scope for a new substation site. You help secure the location, identify data needs, and outline permits required to design and build the facility. Late morning, you review deliverables from the Engineer of Record (EOR)—providing training, due diligence, and technical oversight to ensure alignment with generation interconnection agreements, the scope of work, project specifications, site-specific requirements, and all applicable standards (IEEE, NESC, ASCE, and other industry codes). After lunch, you represent Engineering & Construction (E&C) in cross-functional sessions—summarizing progress, surfacing issues, and laying out risk mitigations for leaders at multiple levels. You partner with Transmission Services to examine interconnection documentation, including system impact, facility, reactive, and harmonic studies, along with interconnection agreements. You verify that Transmission Owner requirements and E&C design are consistent, compliant with all ISO requirements, and fully incorporated into the project design. Before you wrap, you collaborate with ISC to create and refine statements of work (SOW), approve scopes, and prepare shopping carts for engineering services and materials. Some weeks include travel within North America to support construction and commissioning as projects move from concept through execution. The Role Remote position with some North America travel 1-year contract assignment (W-2) Reports to the onsite Manager Accountable for substation projects from early-stage development through construction and commissioning Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering (preferred) 7+ years of substation design and engineering experience on high-voltage projects (helpful) Project Engineering or Project Management background; PMP or P.E. in a related discipline (helpful) Our Safety Pledge to You If you are as committed to your success as we are to your safety, this role is for you.
