Job Description
SCADA EngineerPosition Overview We are seeking a hands-on SCADA Engineer to design, configure, commission, and support supervisory control and data acquisition systems for complex conveyance and automation projects. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with FactoryTalk, system configuration and commissioning of conveyors and conveyance systems, and a strong understanding of controls, networking, and on-site testing. This role requires collaboration with electrical, controls and software teams to deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable SCADA solutions across airports, baggage handling, theme-park rides, and industrial facilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, configure, and implement SCADA systems, with primary emphasis on FactoryTalk and associated
Develop and commission conveyance control systems (e.g., conveyors, baggage handling, theme-park ride controls) including field device integration and PLC interfaces.
Perform system configuration, integration and commissioning activities (FAT, SAT, site commissioning), ensuring systems meet performance and safety requirements.
Program and debug PLCs and HMI screens; create robust alarm, trending and historian configurations to support operations and maintenance.
Install, configure and maintain SCADA servers, network switches, routers and related infrastructure to ensure reliable communications and cybersecurity best practices.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (controls, software, mechanical, electrical, project managers, TSA/authority stakeholders) to define requirements and deliverables.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, wiring and network diagrams (CAD), configuration records, test plans and commissioning reports.
Execute system and component-level testing, validation and troubleshooting during commissioning and post-commission support.
Provide on-site and remote support for start-up, handover and ongoing maintenance, including training operations staff and producing O&M manuals.
Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance, reliability and maintainability.
QualificationsBachelors degree or diploma in Electrical, Control Systems, Automation, Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proven experience as a SCADA Engineer with demonstrable work on FactoryTalk-based projects.
Hands-on experience configuring and commissioning conveyance systems (conveyors, baggage handling, theme-park ride controls) and associated controls.
Strong PLC knowledge and practical experience integrating PLCs with SCADA and HMIs.
Experience with system configuration, FAT/SAT procedures, commissioning and on-site testing.
Familiarity with networking fundamentals (servers, switches, routers), cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems, and network troubleshooting.
Proficient in creating technical documentation, wiring/network diagrams and commissioning reports; CAD experience is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to diagnose hardware/software issues and a methodical approach to testing and validation.
Ability to travel to customer sites for commissioning and support; comfortable working in controlled environments such as airports or theme parks.
