Job Description

SCADA Engineer | Water & Wastewater Jacksonville, Florida $90,000 - $130,000 I'm working with a leading organization within the water & wastewater automation space that is looking to add a SCADA Engineer to their team. This is not your typical Controls Technician position. They're looking for a genuine PLC/Controls Engineer who can take ownership of projects from the initial requirements and control narrative through to PLC programming, testing, startup, commissioning and customer handover. You'll work closely with Project Managers and customers, developing control systems based on project specifications and contract documents. The role combines hands-on programming with field commissioning, troubleshooting and customer interaction. What you'll be doing You'll have ownership across the full project lifecycle, including: Developing PLC application programs from scratch Reviewing electrical/control drawings and project specifications Developing system control narratives and I/O requirements Integrating PLC systems with third-party equipment Participating in FAT and SAT Supporting startup and commissioning at customer sites Demonstrating system functionality and providing customer/operator training Supporting SCADA monitoring, control, alarming and data collection Providing technical support to customers and field service teams What I'm looking for The biggest thing here is genuine PLC programming experience. I'm looking for someone who has actually developed PLC applications rather than someone whose experience is primarily troubleshooting existing systems or making minor ladder logic changes. Ideally, you'll have: Strong Allen-Bradley PLC experience Experience with Siemens, Schneider/Modicon or Emerson is also valuable 2+ years of PLC programming experience Experience with commissioning, startup, FAT or SAT Ability to read electrical/control drawings Understanding of electrical and instrumentation systems Exposure to
SCADA/HMI
platforms Experience working with instrumentation such as flow, pressure, level or analytical devices Water & wastewater experience would be a major advantage, particularly within municipal water, wastewater treatment, pump stations or broader water infrastructure automation. However, I'm also open to strong project-based Controls Engineers from other industries. If you've designed controls, programmed PLCs, worked from drawings/specifications, integrated instrumentation and commissioned systems, I'd still like to speak with you regardless of the industry you've come from. What's on offer? Mileage reimbursement Company P-card for business expenses Flexible/remote working depending on project phase Opportunity to work on technically interesting water & wastewater automation projects Genuine ownership of projects from programming through commissioning If you're a PLC Applications Engineer / Controls Engineer who wants to do more than simply troubleshoot existing systems, I'd be interested in speaking with you.
