With over 30 years of industry experience, we help construction, commercial, educational, industrial, and corporate organizations design, implement, and support reliable technology environments. Our expertise includes structured cabling, fiber optic networks, Wi-Fi infrastructure, security systems, access control, video surveillance, conferencing technologies, and integrated AV solutions. As we continue to expand our presence across New Jersey and New York, we are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to support client assessments, solution design, project estimation, and project delivery throughout the Northeast United States. Position Overview The Senior Engineer will play a key role in assessing client environments, designing technology infrastructure solutions, preparing technical documentation, estimating project requirements, and supporting successful project delivery. This position requires a combination of engineering expertise, field experience, and client-facing communication skills. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, visiting client sites, developing technical solutions, coordinating with installation teams, and taking ownership of engineering decisions from concept through project completion. Key Responsibilities Conduct site surveys and technical assessments of existing client infrastructure Analyze business and technical requirements and develop practical infrastructure solutions Design and plan structured cabling systems, including Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic, and backbone infrastructure Develop layouts for MDF/IDF rooms, equipment racks, cable pathways, and cable management systems Design network infrastructure, including switching, wireless, and connectivity solutions Perform Wi-Fi coverage planning and infrastructure recommendations Support the design and integration of commercial AV and collaboration systems Participate in security systems planning, including access control, video surveillance, and related low-voltage technologies Prepare technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and as-built documentation using AutoCAD, Visio, or similar tools Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), scopes of work, labor estimates, and project budgets Support proposal development and client presentations Coordinate installation activities with subcontractors, installers, and project stakeholders Perform site inspections and quality assurance reviews Ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, safety regulations, and client expectations Support system commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and project handover activities Provide technical leadership throughout project execution Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in network infrastructure, low-voltage systems, telecommunications, AV, or related engineering disciplines Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems, fiber optics, network hardware, wireless technologies, and infrastructure best practices Experience designing and implementing commercial network infrastructure solutions Familiarity with ANSI/TIA, BICSI, NEC, and related industry standards Experience conducting field assessments and translating business requirements into technical designs Experience supervising installation teams, subcontractors, or field personnel Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently and take ownership of engineering decisions Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, Microsoft Office, and related engineering tools Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to travel throughout New Jersey and New York for project-related activities Preferred Qualifications BICSI, RCDD, CCNA, CWNA, CTS, or similar industry certifications Experience with commercial AV systems and collaboration technologies Experience with access control, video surveillance, and integrated security systems OSHA certification or equivalent safety training Experience supporting construction, education, healthcare, manufacturing, distribution, or corporate environments Experience working directly with general contractors, electrical contractors, architects, and project managers What We Offer Flexible contract and project-based engagement Opportunity to work directly with company leadership Exposure to a wide variety of network infrastructure, AV, security, and technology integration projects Competitive project-based or hourly compensation Long-term growth opportunities as SHIK Systems expands in the US market Opportunity to influence engineering standards, solution design approaches, and technical best practices Diverse commercial and enterprise-level projects across multiple industries Location Ridgewood, NJ 07450 (Preferred)
