Job Description Insight Global is partnering with a large local utility as they grow their Electric Engineering organization to support the surge in electricity demand, driven by AI-focused data centers, rapid electric vehicle (EV) adoption, and massive grid modernization efforts. We are looking for a Substation Sr Consulting Project Engineer to be a part of the Substation Engineering department. This department is responsible for ensuring all manners of electric engineering—including electric standards and process safety, electric design engineering, instrumentation testing and controls, undergrounding, electric regulatory compliance and electric investment planning—are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects. Responsibilities include but aren't limited to: Manage large complex projects and perform engineering analyses, studies, and develop conceptual designs. Develop innovative solutions to solve challenging technical issues. Acts as a lead in root cause analysis and makes recommendations to address local and system-wide problems. Acts as a company witness, liaison, and/or information provider to outside parties. Develops technical policies, procedures, and contributes to the development of standards, specifications, construction documents, and guidelines. Represents PG&E at external industry associations, committees, trade organizations and other inter-utility groups. Acts as an engineering mentor.
