Job Title:
Transmission Analyst Job Description We are seeking a highly experienced Transmission Analyst to support the performance, optimization, and financial/operational analysis of transmission systems within a utility environment. This role combines advanced technical analysis, capital project support, and data-driven decision-making to ensure efficient, reliable, and compliant transmission operations. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in transmission line systems, project lifecycle support (including closeout and reconciliation), and cross-functional coordination across engineering, construction, and finance teams. Responsibilities Perform in-depth analysis of transmission system performance, including load flow, capacity constraints, and asset behavior. Analyze system data to identify inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for optimization. Support reliability and resilience initiatives through data-driven insights. Lead or support transmission capital project closeout processes, ensuring alignment between scope, costs, and completed work. Research and resolve variances between estimated and actual project costs. Track project status, support financial reconciliation, and maintain documentation for audit readiness. Collaborate with engineering, construction, supply chain, and accounting teams to ensure accurate project completion records. Lead transmission capacity planning efforts to support future system demand. Develop and implement strategies to optimize system performance and reduce congestion. Evaluate infrastructure upgrades and system improvements. Implement and maintain monitoring systems to track transmission asset performance. Investigate and resolve complex system issues, including outages and equipment failures. Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions. Analyze large datasets related to transmission performance, losses, and project financials. Develop dashboards, reports, and insights for leadership decision-making. Identify trends and recommend process improvements and best practices. Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards (e.g., NERC, FERC). Maintain accurate documentation for regulatory and internal audits. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field. 10-15 years of experience in transmission systems (lines, substations, or grid operations). Experience in utility capital project environments (design, construction, or closeout). Proficiency in data analysis, performance monitoring, and system optimization. Strong proficiency with transmission and power system analysis tools. Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, or similar). Familiarity with utility systems such as PowerPlan, GIS, or similar platforms. Understanding of transmission construction scope, equipment, and cost structures. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong understanding of transmission system operations and lifecycle. Additional Skills & Qualifications Master's degree or relevant certifications preferred. Experience with transmission line design, construction, or materials. Familiarity with SCADA systems and grid monitoring tools. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting capabilities. Work Environment This position will be fully remote, providing flexibility in work location. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
