Dominion Energy is seeking a highly motivated engineering student to join our Transmission Engineering team for a summer internship. This internship will provide hands-on exposure to the surveying, design, construction, operation, & maintenance of the electric transmission system that powers homes, business, and communities across our service territory.
As an intern, you will work alongside engineers and technicians on real world projects that support the reliability of the electrical grid. The internship offers valuable technical experience, professional development, and insight into a career in the electric utility industry. Support transmission engineering projects involving high-voltage (33kv - 230kV) transmission lines and associated facilities.
Bill of material development and material requisitions.
Assist with
PLS-CADD
design & AutoCAD drawings.
Review encroachment request and T&D joint use request to ensure they meet Dominion's requirements.
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
Utilize engineering software (PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD, etc.), GIS tools, and Microsoft Office applications to support project work.
Participate in field visits to transmission lines, substations, and construction sites to observe utility operations and engineering practices.
Collaborate with engineers and operations teams on projects.
Learn and apply Dominion Energy's commitment to safety, operational excellence, and environmental stewardship.
Support storm restoration efforts.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience AutoCAD experience or prior AutoCAD coursework.
Education Requirements Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program that is ABET accredited majoring in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
Must have a GPA of 3.0 or above Must have a graduation date of 2028 or 2029

What You'll Get Hourly Rate:
$27.00 - $29.00 The hourly rate listed is the rate we anticipate paying for this position. If a range is listed, the actual hourly rate offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate's academic major and/or school classification (e.g., sophomore, junior, senior).
