Role:
Step into the role of Transmission System Operation Coordinator at the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). You will aid in maintaining the seamless operation of the transmission system in our service territory while playing a pivotal role in the effective implementation of a growing capital plan. This position offers the chance to showcase your electrical systems knowledge in sustaining operational quality and contributing to a fast-growing maintenance and capital program. You will be responsible for completing critical tasks while engaging with various colleagues across the organization.
How You'll Contribute:
Schedule and coordinate all LCRA TSC's transmission system switching activities in conjunction with ERCOT, ensuring system-wide impacts are considered and managed effectively. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of system outage plans, entering this information into the ERCOT Portal and communicating plans to system operations staff. Coordinate outages with Independent Power Producers, ensuring their load planning processes are closely coordinated with our operational needs. Establishes and maintains relationships with internal and external customers regarding transmission system outages. Coordinates with management to discuss operational issues and schedules in order to meet internal and external needs, and with project management and engineering to provide operational perspective to project plans. Support Transmission System Operators and shift supervisors in everyday and crisis conditions, conducting training programs when required to maintain readiness and conformity.
How You're Qualified:
Nine or more years' experience in real-time operation and control of electric transmission and/or distribution systems, transmission equipment field operations or power plant operations, or other relevant experience. A degree(s) in electrical engineering technology, electrical technology, electronics or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
How You'll Stand Out:
NERC System Operator Certification. In-depth knowledge of LCRA Transmission Switching Procedures Manual, System Operations Procedures, and basic electricity fundamentals. Experience with electric transmission and generation facilities, system one-line diagrams, ERCOT Operating Guides, and NERC Operating Policies and Reliability Standards. Advanced skills in Energy Management System for transmission switching control, analyzing and solving complex problems, and reading and interpreting diagrams and prints. Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with basic office efficiency application skills. Demonstrated skill in negotiating, persuading others, and communicating clearly with colleagues, leadership, and outside groups during routine and urgent situations.
