VCS is looking for Engineering Associate II(driving required) for one of his clients at Austin, TX.
Pay rate:
$40/hr

An ideal candidate will have experience more closely aligned with the STEM-focused qualifications and will have experience in electrical substation design as well as familiarity with high voltage electrical transmission systems.
This role consists of at times managing many different tasks while leading the development of scopes of work for our electrical transmission capital improvement projects. The selected candidate will not only use AutoCAD design suite software to create conceptual substation physical layout and one-line drawings but will also collaborate with other engineering and field personnel to develop scoping deliverables that inform project cost estimating and design activities. Our preferred candidates work well in a team environment and fit well with the strong safety culture of the client.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
Bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science plus one or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job.
Drivers license Must have:
Strong AutoCAD proficiency (AutoCAD Civil 3D)

Mathematical science Under limited supervision of a licensed professional engineer, performs a variety of progressively responsible engineering assignments involving engineering principles.
Completes engineering projects and designs work involving adaptations and modifications to systems, equipment, materials and procedures.
Receives instructions on specific objectives, complex features, established precedents, and possible solutions.
Conducts engineering studies and computations. Develops designs and cost estimates. Lays out drafting work. Correlates/compiles data.
Conducts and analyzes tests and diagnoses and evaluates equipment performance. May direct the work of craftsmen or technicians. May assist less experienced engineers or others.
Investigates and analyzes problems and develops appropriate solutions. Drafts reports. Receives assistance on unusual or complex features.
Conducts moderately complex tests of instruments, materials, equipment, and controls to determine operating characteristics. Develops solutions or improvements, and/or verifies accuracy of data. Ensures accurate and beneficial data is acquired and recorded.
Prepares reports, operating instructions and project outlines in connection with engineering assignments. Follows appropriate business procedures. Applies project management techniques.
Plans and designs engineering projects involving relatively few complex features. Performs engineering and design work. Conducts field analysis, inspections and performance tests. Records, compiles, and reports information.
Drafts specifications as required for projects. Completes related computations and drafts schematics and diagrams. Develops testing plans. Interprets engineering specifications.
Coordinates project reviews and implementation plans between individuals and sections. Ensures timely communications occur, as needed, on project activities.
Maintains knowledge of engineering principles and enhances knowledge of client's equipment and systems.
Gathers engineering information by traveling independently to various locations (substations, power plants, water systems, etc.) as necessary.
In accordance with approved Supply Management processes and procedures, serves as owners representative for outside engineering contracts.
May perform confined space entry.
May interpret basic engineering drawings or manufacturers specifications for field personnel.

Work Environment:
Work hours are spent in an office environment, industrial, plant, construction and/or field environment
Works in close proximity to energized high-voltage electrical equipment
Work involves exposure to noise
Work involves exposure to various and sometimes extreme weather conditions
Works at heights up to 450 feet
Work involves call-out as necessary
Work involves exposure to high speed rotating machinery
Work involves exposure to high temperature/high pressure vessels
Physical Demands:
Work involves frequent finger/hand manipulation in using a keyboard and mouse
Work involves frequent standing and/or walking
