Job Title:
Transmission Line EngineerJob Description The Transmission Line Engineer works as part of a collaborative power delivery team to design and support overhead and underground power line projects across the United States, ranging from asset maintenance programs to multi-year rebuilds and tie lines. In this role, you work under the guidance of a Lead Engineer, contribute to all phases of design and project execution, and occasionally travel to project sites to gather data and interface directly with clients. Responsibilities + Work under the direction of a Lead Engineer and collaborate with a team of engineers to deliver transmission line projects for multiple clients across the U.S. + Support projects that range from asset maintenance programs to multi-year rebuilds and tie line installations. + Perform all aspects of overhead and underground power line design, including line routing, finite element analysis, hardware and conductor selection, and technical support during construction. + Handle One-Call coordination, Department of Transportation and municipality permitting, and right-of-way requests as part of project execution. + Prepare and interpret electrical one-line diagrams for transmission line projects. + Develop a thorough understanding of all project deliverables, including plan and profile drawings, structure load analysis, structure framing details, bills of materials, and design drawings. + Coordinate and participate in internal and external reviews of designs prior to final submission to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements. + Travel to project sites as needed to gather field data, perform site assessments, and interface with clients and stakeholders. + Manage a significant number of concurrent projects while maintaining a high level of quality, consistency, accuracy, and reliability in all work products. + Demonstrate a professional and open-minded approach to planning and executing assigned projects, adapting to client needs and project constraints. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program. + At least 2 years of experience in engineering, preferably related to transmission line or power delivery projects. + Foundational knowledge of transmission line design and high-voltage power systems. + Ability to perform overhead and underground power line design tasks, including line routing and structural or finite element analysis. + Experience or familiarity with foundation design for transmission structures. + Ability to select appropriate transmission hardware and conductors and provide technical support during construction. + Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy. + Professional disposition with the ability to remain open-minded and collaborative in project planning and execution. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Basic knowledge of overhead and/or underground electric facilities and their integration into daily engineering activities. + Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification with the ability and intent to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) licensure. + Experience working with NESC, ASCE, and IEEE standards for transmission line design and power delivery. + Experience with AutoCAD for preparing and reviewing engineering drawings. + Experience withPLS-CADD
for transmission line design and analysis. + Experience with GIS tools to support routing and spatial analysis. + Experience with MFAD or similar foundation design software. + Interest in supporting a growing transmission line team and contributing to long-term, contract-to-hire opportunities. + Motivation to grow within a power delivery organization that offers performance-based bonuses and potential profit-sharing based on tenure for direct employees. Work Environment This role is based in an in-office environment within a dedicated Power Delivery team located in Austin, Texas. You work closely with other engineers and project staff in a collaborative, project-driven setting focused on transmission line and power delivery projects. The position supports a large utility client portfolio and offers a contract-to-hire, long-term opportunity, with direct employees eligible for performance bonuses and, with certain tenure, profit-sharing options. Work is primarily performed in a professional office setting using standard engineering and office software tools, with periodic travel to project sites for field data collection and client interaction. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $57.00/hr.
