Principal Product Engineer, NPI May 7, 2026 San Jose, CA About the role This role ensures that our New Product Introduction (NPI) of ALC RX component and system integration are fully characterized, verified, optimized for performance + reliability and passed on to operations team through deep technical understanding, sharp critique of supplier test data & technical explanations, technical design review, review and critique of qualification data and seamless management of component delivery for qualification, customer demo, validation and production qualification through
DVT/EVT/PVT
process. Base salary range is $180,000 - $250,000 a year. The base salary offer will depend on factors such as education, experience, training, skills, qualifications, and location. Responsibilities This role requires a hands-on leader with technical knowledge of semiconductor optical component design, fabrication and experience in bringing optical/semiconductor components into high-volume manufacturing. Development and verification of reliability models from device physics basis through identification of failure modes, calculation of reliability test acceleration factors and projection from short term reliability data the lifetime for product mission profile. Guide the internal and supplier development team in developing robust test and validation plans, analysis and rapid iterative improvement. Support RX component integration, data elements for development & production, including the Bill of Materials (BOM) and Device History Record (DHR) structures. Ensure data integrity and accuracy from the design phase through to the shop floor including detailed analysis and critique with the supplier and with the Credo process and design engineers. Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives and lead yield improvement projects at early development stages to resolve issues prior to mass production. Qualifications PhD preferred; master's degree in Engineering or a related field required. 10+ years of progressive experience in Device R&D, NPI, and/or Manufacturing Engineering with experience in reliability model development and verification. Proven success in technology development & product introduction to high volume production with overseas suppliers and contract manufacturers.
