On-Site Summary of Position The Mechanical Equipment Design Engineer will support the development of a new advanced manufacturing facility by designing, developing, and implementing custom production equipment, automated machinery, fixtures, and tooling. This is a hands-on engineering role responsible for taking equipment concepts through design, fabrication, installation, qualification, and production startup. Required Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 5+ years of engineering experience involving mechanical equipment design, manufacturing equipment, automation, or industrial machinery. Demonstrated experience designing production equipment, automated machinery, fixtures, tooling, or electromechanical systems. Strong proficiency with 3D CAD and the ability to produce detailed mechanical drawings and engineering documentation. Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including component selection, integration, and troubleshooting. Ability to interpret and work from mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and equipment schematics. Demonstrated ability to manage equipment projects from concept/design through fabrication, installation, commissioning, and production startup. Preferred Education & Experience Experience designing or implementing automated assembly or production equipment. Experience supporting a new manufacturing facility, plant startup, production expansion, or equipment installation program. Experience with industrial automation, robotics, electromechanical systems, or automated machinery. Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and the ability to collaborate effectively with controls/automation engineers. Experience managing equipment vendors, machine builders, fabrication partners, and commissioning activities. Experience with equipment qualification, validation, troubleshooting, reliability improvement, or production optimization. Experience in aerospace, defense, energetic materials, highly regulated manufacturing, or other safety-critical production environments.
