You will take a new product from a brief scope discussion through measurement, design, prototyping, test fitment, revisions, and final approval for production. This is not an entry-level drafting position. We need someone who can meet with the owner for 15-30 minutes to establish project objectives, then independently drive the work forward, provide progress updates, and bring back a validated, production-ready design for approval. What you will do
  • Measure and evaluate new and used Harley-Davidson motorcycles and SXS vehicles to develop and verify aftermarket parts.
  • Create new SolidWorks 3D solid models, assemblies, and sheet metal components.
  • Design manufacturing-ready parts for in-house laser cutting, CNC press brakes, and CNC machining.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, flat patterns, dimensions, tolerances, and production files.
  • Coordinate with shop personnel to produce prototypes and physically test parts for fit, function, and appearance.
  • Identify issues, revise models, re-test as needed, and present final results for owner approval.
  • Own project priorities, communicate status and roadblocks, and move efficiently to the next product. Required qualifications
  • Advanced working proficiency in SolidWorks, including parts, assemblies, and sheet metal tools.
  • Proven experience taking real mechanical products or components from concept to manufactured part.
  • Practical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, bend allowances, laser cutting, press brakes, and CNC machining.
  • Ability to measure physical equipment accurately, design around real-world clearances, and validate fitment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, independent problem-solving, attention to detail, and minimal need for supervision.
  • Ability to create clear, accurate, production-ready drawings and communicate directly with the manufacturing team. Required qualifications
