Caterpillar-provided equipment Position Summary Caterpillar is seeking a Dev/Research Engineer II to support new product introduction (NPI) efforts for a next-generation fuel pump program. This role focuses on product development and validation , combining design ownership with hands-on laboratory testing and cross?functional collaboration. The engineer will play a key role in advancing the program toward production launch through structured validation, analysis coordination, and clear technical communication. Key Responsibilities Lead fuel pump validation activities for a new product design, including planning, execution, and reporting Develop component and system designs in alignment with APQP and NPI program cadence Create and update 3D models and detailed prints using Creo Support validation testing , including test preparation, assembly, teardown, inspection, and documentation Coordinate validation hardware tracking, test schedules, and supplier interactions Analyze test results and communicate findings to core engineering and leadership teams Assist in tolerance stack?up analysis , design reviews, and failure investigations Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, analysis, mechatronics, and purchasing teams Work Environment Primarily office-based Increasing hands-on lab and test environment involvement as the program moves into validation phases Close collaboration with a core development team, technical specialists, and suppliers Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering 2-5 years of applicable engineering experience Hands-on experience with product development and validation Proficiency in 3D modeling and print detailing Strong understanding of GD&T Experience working with FMEA, DVP&R, and APQP methodologies Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation Preferred Qualifications Engine or fuel system development experience Caterpillar detailing and releasing experience Exposure to structural FEA or hydraulic analysis Product validation or test engineering experience Knowledge of manufacturing processes Required Skills & Attributes Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Analytical and problem-solving mindset Clear verbal and written communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast?paced development environment Collaborative team player with a hands-on approach #LI-CB1 #INDOEMSimilar remote jobs
