Job Title:
Product Engineer Job Description We are seeking a talented Product Engineer to enhance existing product lines through engineering changes, quality improvements, and cost reduction initiatives. The ideal candidate will support ECO/ECR processes and maintain product data within the Engineering Vault while collaborating with cross-functional teams to address supplier issues, field failures, production challenges, and customer concerns. The role also involves conducting root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions, assisting with product testing, verification, reliability activities, and developing and updating BOMs and technical documentation. Responsibilities Enhance existing product lines through engineering changes, quality improvements, and cost reduction initiatives. Support ECO/ECR processes and maintain product data within the Engineering Vault. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve supplier issues, field failures, production challenges, or customer concerns. Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions. Assist with product testing, verification, and reliability activities. Develop and update BOMs and technical documentation. Participate heavily in cost savings initiatives, including substituting alternative materials such as plastics or metals. Analyze alternative designs based on potential automation solutions in manufacturing from a product perspective. Complete product line reviews by evaluating all products within blinds and decorative glass, including competitor offerings. Engage in research-based and reverse engineering activities to tear down competitor designs. Write test plans, support test preparation, and analyze results. Essential Skills Proficiency in SolidWorks. Strong root cause analysis skills. Problem-solving methodologies expertise. Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) experience. Experience in plastic injection molding and extrusion. 5+ years of experience in a Product/Project Engineer role. Strong problem-solving experience, particularly with 8D methodologies. Additional Skills & Qualifications Certification in Six Sigma or proficiency in 8D problem-solving methods. Work Environment The role operates within a standard office environment with working hours from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This is a two-month contract position without PTO or holiday benefits. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Zeeland, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
