Raleigh, NC Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, is a world leader in interconnect solutions for Communications, Mobile, RF, Optics, and Commercial electronics markets. Amphenol Corporation is one of the world's largest designers and manufacturers of electrical, electronic and fiber optic connectors and interconnect systems, antennas, sensors and sensor-based products and coaxial and high-speed specialty cable. ACS has an expansive global presence in research and development, manufacturing, and sales. We design and manufacture a wide range of innovative connectors as well as cable assemblies for diverse applications including server, storage, data center, mobile, RF, networking, industrial, business equipment, and automotive. We are currently seeking a Development Engineer to join our team. The position will be located in Raleigh, NC. As a Development Engineer for Cable Backplane Systems, you will be responsible for concept generation, design, verification and qualification, as well as supporting new business opportunities, including ensuring that the product design is manufactural and will meet the defined customer requirements - including electrical, mechanical and environmental requirements. The position will work as part of a global cross-functional team and include customer interaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conceptualize, design, and develop power connector solutions as required by the BU strategic roadmap and new business opportunities. Work with Front-end team and customers to define product/application requirements. Lead product design reviews and create and communicate technical presentations. Develop testing programs to ensure products work per design intent. Present product concepts to customers early in development cycle, interpret feedback, and incorporate any revised requirements into the design. Define Product, Application, and Packaging specifications. Define a verification and product qualification test plans. Work closely with NPI and manufacturing engineering to ensure products are transitioned to manufacturing
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar 2+ years' experience Experience in connector design preferred Proficient in 3D modeling (Creo, Solidworks, etc.) Familiarity with product development lifecycle and systems engineering. Strong understanding of hardware components and their applications in electronics manufacturing. Excellent project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget. Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster a culture of innovation. Excellent understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Ability to communicate well with Global Customers and all levels of the organization including Management, Marketing, Sales, Process Engineering, Test Lab personnel, other Engineers (local and global). Ability to prioritize, work to meet objectives and to manage multiple activities/projects simultaneously. ANSYS or other FEA simulation experience
