Product Development/Color Engineer Job Summary:
We are a growing HEXPOL company that supplies custom color concentrates and dry color to the plastics industry. We are looking for a Product Development/Color Engineer with a background in color matching and formulation to join our team as we continue to grow. The ideal candidate will be responsible color matching, creating sample chips, developing color formulas, and ensuring consistent, repeatable results for plastics industry while complying with all company policies & procedures, safety protocols, and quality requirements. The Product Development/Color Engineer must lead by example, strive for excellence within the processes, and drive a positive work environment.
Responsibilities:
Create and adjust color formulations for plastics Match colors, prepare sample chips, and correct off-color batches Work with masterbatches, pigments, additives and different resins Perform testing, approvals, and quality checks Operate molding machines and other lab equipment such as spectrophotometers Maintain accurate lab records, formulas, test results, and quality documentation. Support quality control and ISO compliance Calibrate lab equipment Work closely with production and quality teams to solve color issues Keep the lab clean, safe, and organized Strict adherence to company policies and safety procedures
Qualifications:
Excellent color vision Strong attention to detail, mathematical, and organizational skills Effective communication, interpersonal, and written skills Ability to work independently and within a team environment with minimal supervision (self-motivated) in a fast-paced environment Ability to analyze and strategize problems with production and lab teams for best problem solving Familiarity with quality inspection processes Experience in plastics color development and quality assurance field preferred but not required Continued education beyond high school diploma such as an Associate, Bachelor's or technical degree in a plastic or color matching related program preferred but not required Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
