Job Description

HoverTech International , an ETAC and a medical device company, established in 1997 and a leader in Safe Patient Handling and Movement is seeking an onsite Product Development Engineer to join their team. The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for supporting various products in all stages of development including early stages of design feasibility. The ideal candidate has a Mechanical Engineering degree, is proficient in SolidWorks and has 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience including designing, developing, building, and testing. Product Development Engineer Responsibilities:
Work closely with Director of R&D and product design technician in product conception and initial design and prototyping. Work with cross functional team, external partners and suppliers throughout product development and trouble-shooting activities. Evaluate competitive products via testing and research to benchmark performance in key product characteristics. Assist in creation of regulatory submissions. Establish test protocols and perform design validation and verification. Collect and maintain applicable technical, clinical, and commercial literature relating to the background and development of specific products or procedures. Work cooperatively to develop manufacturing methods including new tooling and equipment. Perform material sourcing and investigating to meet design and production requirements. Work closely with external manufacturers regarding design, manufacture, and quality issues. Keep abreast of new developments, materials or processes which can be used to improve the function or production of products. Manage, direct, and support vendors involved in product development and ongoing production. Visit hospitals and see products in use to understand patient and user needs regarding product specifications and operation.
Product Development Engineer Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering 3+ years relevant mechanical engineering experience Proficient in SolidWorks and 2D Cad software Understanding of GD&T and GMP Strong product management, communication, and documentation skills Self-starter that takes initiative and works well independently as well as understands and participates cooperatively within cross-functional team. Must be open to minimal international travel. HoverTech International is a true team and when shipments arrive your will find the entire company, regardless of level, assisting with unloading containers so, you will need to be able to lift 25 pounds.
Product Development Engineer Preferred:
Medical device product development experience preferred (not required) Working knowledge of FDA and ISO standards, especially ISO 13485, and international requirements and standards applicable to medical devices preferred (not required) #LS4811
